British jeweller Anabela Chan has once again pushed the boundaries of ethical luxury with the launch of her latest collection: Fruit Gems™. Known for her imaginative use of materials and bold design language, Chan’s newest innovation blends science, sustainability and spectacle — creating gemstones synthesised entirely from fruit and vegetable pigments.

These vibrant stones, born from ingredients such as beetroot, dragon fruit, spinach and spirulina, are stabilised using a plant-based bio-resin to preserve their rich, natural hues. The result is a dazzling new category of fine jewellery that doesn’t just look good — it does good too.

A Waste-to-Wonder Vision

Fruit Gems™ continues the brand’s “Waste to Wonder” mission. Following earlier work with recycled aluminium, Chan now turns her attention to food waste — a growing environmental concern, with over 40% of food discarded in Western countries each year. The collection transforms discarded ingredients into wearable colour stories, celebrating nature’s palette and raising awareness about excess and overproduction.

Science Meets Storytelling

Each gem is the result of more than three years of research and development. Instead of mining or lab creation, these stones are made using pigments from real fruits and vegetables — including betalains from beetroot, anthocyanins from blueberries, and chlorophyll from spinach — all set into fine jewellery designs that are as playful as they are profound.

Introducing Regenerative-Gemstones™

Alongside the Fruit Gems™, Chan has launched Regenerative-Gemstones™ — a new material innovation that reimagines semi-precious stones such as amber, malachite and rose quartz using waste fragments from lapidary workshops. These reconstituted stones further her commitment to a circular approach to luxury design.

A Designer With Purpose

Speaking about the collection, Chan says:

“We believe the most beautiful colours are found in nature. The goal was to preserve these pigments at their most vibrant using gentle, sustainable methods.”

Fruit Gems™ marks a bold step forward not just in jewellery design, but in the way the industry thinks about beauty, value and materials.

More Than Jewellery

Anabela Chan’s Fruit Gems™ collection isn’t just a fresh aesthetic — it’s a new way of looking at fine jewellery. Through imaginative design and responsible innovation, she invites wearers to see nature not just as inspiration, but as the material itself.
